Well worn grannyness...

After seeing these boutique bags
on Sara's blog
I knew they had just the right amount of
Grannyness
to give them a try...

Granny Bags Boutique style...

After taking a few snaps...

I remembered my mother saying...
"when your my age your hands will look just like mine"
yes...
mine are looking very much like I remember my mothers looking at my age...

Maybe a few more gallons of
Vaseline intensive care could help...

Or maybe that's just what they are meant to look like...
older...wiser...and well worn...

I hope this Easter brings
much joy and lots of hugs from some
older...wiser...and well worn hands
from family and friends you adore...

Oh these are just adorable! ..and I know what you mean about hands. I remember thinking when I was younger how old my moms hands looked and now, at just 45 my hands look just like hers, only a little chubbier!

They are so cute!! Well, my hands are in the same condition! I've really neglected them and now they look old, dry and over-used! Have to pay more attention to them...Happy Easter!

Such cute little bags. Your hands have a way to go to look like mine... you need bulging veins :(

I have my Mums hands too. I like 'em. They are the hands of someone who never remembers Vaseline Intensive Anything and wears washing up gloves but half the time. I like having the same hands as my Mum. I like your granny bags modelling your hands too.

They say your hands and your neck will show your age. I have to add all my wrinkles and grey hair. Your hands have done so much, taken care of so many, I think we should be proud of their wear and tear, they tell a story of our lives.
Happy Easter Michele,
Meredith

I did the same thing yesterday when I saw Sara's post. But then I decided I wanted it adult size rather than child size; so I made it wider and then that led to the idea that it would need to be taller to look proportioned. And then there was some foolish idea to incorporate granny squares in the sides...and since I'm kind of a novice to this whole thing, there's been great fiddling to make this happen. I'm still fiddling. I should have just stuck to the original, but I don't have a little girl around to use it. That may be way more than you needed to hear, but I had to tell someone! LOL So, that all said...I love the colors you used; they turned out beautifully. But, of course they did! Happy Easter to you! Annette

Love the post re: your hands. My hands actually look OLDER than my mother's. Very worn. Very dry. Very ugly. But always very busy! Love your work, Victoria

Hi Michelle! I love love love the black one! They are both amazing. Would you mind if I shared one of your photos next week? One of my favorite things about blogging is seeing other peoples finished projects.
I swear my hands are aging three times as fast as the rest of my body. Cleaning, gardening and children have taken a serious toll. My 87 year old grandmother was commenting on mine today. Worried about all the wear and tear from my cleaning business. Maybe its worse than I thought... I like your perspective on this. Older, wiser and well worn. :)

I loved Sara's version of these little bags, and you multi-coloured ones are lovely too! It's so recognizable...when I see my hands, I see my mothers as well. But it doesn't bother me anymore...just proud of being my mothers daughter.

I've been wanting to make this. I'm glad I waited, because I love that you rotated colors, and I want to do that, too! Great job!
