I must say... I do enjoy winter warmer clothes...
But when it reaches a temp
that it is just too cold to go outside...
It get very annoying...
Even more bothersome is the fact that I need pants on under my new thrifty skirt
because the draft is to chilly for my granny knickers to bare..
I think I will be spending a few hours looking at pretty online stores for winter woolly tights
in a nice burgundy...
Thank you everyone for your great advice with my "yarn dilemma"
I am thinking now I might need to just buy some "thick" sock yarn...
I did find a brand that was "trekking" that was a 6ply...
Has anyone used this?
If so I would love to know what you thought...
I would love a linen -nylon so they would stay up...
and a 8 ply or DK...But I think that is asking too much...
Maybe you know of some thou...Let me know if you do...
Till next time...
Stay warm...or cool...
and safe...
With no drafts blowing in the wrong direction...

what a beautiful book!
i would try and use a linen blend too...sorry i don't know of a brand off hand... good luck with your search :)
I am just learning about yarn and wouldn't be of any help Really love the socks you are going to make. By the way, how cold does it get where you live? You wouldn't like Michigan at all.
Hi there down under in the winter ! Over here we are enjoying long summer days, with lots of sunshine. But there is a downside : it's too warm for wool. No knitting can be done, due to sweatty hands. Perhaps a bit of crochet with cotton, but that's all. I was looking at you picture with longing for those warm and comfy winter days, where you can sit back with a lovely knit... Greetings from Belgium ! Rozemie
too funny, your granny knickers. Hope you find tights! Hate those chilly breezes. :)
Love your new thrifted skirt, it will most certainly look lovely with thick woollen tights to keep those drafts at bay :0) This picture of you has reminded me of how much i love wearing layers in the winter...not that I am willing it on quite yet xox
Your blog cheers me up....Thanks for the tutorials
I've used dk weight 100% wool to make "hiking socks."
I think wool and wool blends are best for socks, because the fiber breathes and has good memory.
But make sure your yarn is washable, unless you plan to hand wash your socks. You'll want the fit of your socks to be slightly snug so they will fit under shoes comfortably.
