Washing is something that we all have to do...
But some manage to do it in such vintage style...
Like my flickr friends above...
Washing on a Wednesday just sounds nice...
Don't you think?
I even made a point of begin a bit colour co-ordinated for the day...
Well at least I thought so...
Note to self...
Don't freak the neighbours out with Washing Wednesday outfits...

As they already think me a bit "strange"...
My Mum use to have a wringer...
Just like this...
I think washing would have taken a lot longer...
But how lovely it would be to have one
just like this
sitting in your laundry...
So Vintage...
My mum had a wringer too, I didn't realise she was a bit of a freak- she's only early 60's and was a 'slow convert' to these modern things!
ReplyDeleteWe rented a house in Tasmania in 1979 and it had one of these machines in the laundry. I'll never forget that wringer - I was clever enough to put my hand through it and boy did it hurt - particularly when my wedding ring cut into my finger. Ouch. I'm glad we don't have them these days. :)
ReplyDeleteMy grandma has given me an old dolly tub that she used to do all of her washing in. I intend on having it pride of place in my garden filled to the brim with flowers!
ReplyDeleteOh how I love neat washing lines like these..... Hanging up the washing can really ease my mind, call me silly.... Hope you're feeling a bit more energetic soon! X Floortje
ReplyDeleteNot too worry. My neighbors do too. They think I'm crazy.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved hanging out the laundry. Love seeing the laundry blowing in the breeze.
ReplyDeleteBTW--your outfit seems like a perfect "washday" outfit.
It's washing day for my house today too!
ReplyDeleteLaundry on the line and city living don't quite mesh ... but yours, I'll bet, is just perfect.
ReplyDeleteAnd what's wrong with the outfit? Your neighbors need to broaden their fashion horizons. :)
I loved the wringer when we were kids, sure was quality time spent with the mother.
ReplyDeleteHope your weather is better than ours today - clothes certainly would not dry here on the line today.
Enjoy your washing
lots of laughs! i'm quite sure that my neighbors find me strange too. it's funny how they seem to turn the other way when they see me coming! :)
ReplyDeletei must tell you, michelle, that you are so creative, and talented and i wish that you were my neighbor! :) have a great week.
I adore you look, and you could be my neighbor for sure. There is nothing like the fresh smell of laundry that has been hung outside to dry.
ReplyDeleteHello Michelle,
ReplyDeleteStopping by for the first time and had a lovely time perusing many of your posts! I think I would like to find a little time to make your sweet Granny Bag for three little sweethearts in my life. A joy finding you!
Kindly, Lorraine
my mother had one also. couldn't wait until i could use it but by the time i could she no longer had it. still think it would be fun to have.
ReplyDeletelove the post! vintage is so wonderfully amazing, I wish I had more things like that myself
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit! Actually I would wear it for everyday, it's so very me!
ReplyDeleteJust discovering your lovely blog btw!
