Grandma Hearts Tutorial


Grandma Hearts.

My grandma has a string of hearts,
She wears them around her breast.

When she gives me a hug,
one falls and hits my head.

You may think this would hurt,
Something falling from above.

But when it comes to grandma's hearts,
There never hard as there always full of love...

Here is the tutorial...
I have used 8 ply yarn
3.5 crochet hook...

Each side of the hearts is a mirror image...
So if you have trouble scroll down
and I have given the instructions for every side
as to help make it a bit clearer...
Enjoy!!!






First round finished...






Second row finished.








Third row finished.
Now the last row seems quite long but I have just
tried to explain it very slowly...
But as I have mentioned each side is a mirror image of the other
so if the pics from the first side are not explaining it easily
scroll down to see the pics of the other side...
Hopefully that will make it easier...





This next step is important...
Missing the next 2 chain space from last row will shape the heart...




As a just mentioned for the first side...
This step is important...
Don't forget to miss this 2 chain space as it gives the heart some shape...







Congratulations...

Now I do realize for the very beginner crocheter
that this tutorial is a little harder than the last ones...
But I do have much faith in you...

    Hi Michelle, You're a wizz. I only began crocheting in the last 6 months and have found your tutorials really easy. Have tried all except the hearts and that's for tomorrow. have made acouple of garlands for my daughter (one for a present) and she's thrilled. Looking forward to the next instalment. You are alos very generous taking the time to write the patters and share them with us.

    I was thrilled when I was reading your blog this morning and found the grandma hearts tutorial. This would make a beautiful ornament for Christmas or Valentines Day. I love the poems with each of your patterns/ tutorials also! Thanks for sharing the beautiful patterns.

    Wow, they are just awesome. Now I have only been crocheting for ummm... about a month!!! hahahah... I just did your stars. Easy! Your Tute made it so. I am now going to jump in to make hearts I think. They will be terrific for the Grandma's from my little one, with the little poem tagged on. Now do I do it for Christmas in 2 weeks or in May for mum's day??? Big dilemma... No doubt I will get stuck, but I won't look at the tute until I go to do it, so that way I won't scare myself off! Thanks! Great job!

    Some times tension can be a big problem with projects like this...
    Just by adding a extra chain will ease up the work and make it sit better...

    I just joined your Granny Tutorials on Flickr and immediately sat down at the kitchen table with your heart tutorial open and crocheted my FIRST ever HEART! In TWO colors! Your tutorial's instructions and photos were easy for me to follow. Now I have to post about it on my blog and add my first photo to Flickr. Thanks so much for sharing your expertise with blogland - this is so helpful for beginners like me. Of course, that means now I have to try the tree, the round and the star!

    Wow! I have just made you granny heart. It's sooo cute. I made mine in 3ply crochet cotton and used a 2.5mm hook.
    I was an avid 'hooker' (still giggle at that term) but lost interest a few years ago and have since taken up scrapbooking.
    One of the latest fads is using crocheted items on your layouts.
    I went searching for a heart motif and found yours.

    This was just what I was looking for! I made a simple garland with trees, hearts and stars (I'm sorry but my 6 year old vetoed your star in favour of another pattern - kids!). You can see it on my blog and I've linked back to yours, hope that's OK.

    Dear Michelle, I made the heart today. It looks wonderful, but I miss 2 steps in the tutorial.
    In the beginning I think one step is missing: 3 tr, 3 ch, 3 tr, 2 ch. Because you only have 3 times trebles when you follow the tutorial but on the picture you see 4.
    And between step 6 and 7 in the last row, I think this sentence is missing:
    1 dc in next space.
    I made it on the left side, and if it's like in a mirror, it should be there on the right side too.
    Am I right?
    Otherwise it's a great tutorial and I love the heart! And maybe I haven't read good enough... Greetings and thanks, Lucia

    I made the tree the star and the circle perfectly.. But this one I cant get right, the left side is all messed up on round 3 or something, cant seem to find where I go wrong.. Ill try again some other day.. Thanks for wonderful tutorials all the same, lovely patterns :)
