L'il Royal Jane's

" Two Little Royals "

This is the tale of Michael and Jane,
two little royals who loved to play games.
They looked alike but not quiet the same,
as you may tell by the sound of their names.

Michael a knight, Jane a fair maiden,
rescuing lands from dragons invading.
Happy and after and ever and more,
adventures abound, never a bore.

Stars come out rest your heads,
nannies here it's time for bed.
Read us a book nanny we'll be good,
the one about the prince who was turned into wood.
As pages turn and pictures missed,
it all ended happily with a princesses kiss.

Tuck the blankets now snuggle up tight,
fairy tale dreams throughout the night.
Goodnight Michael, Goodnight Jane,
see you in the morning for more of the same.

Here are our L'il Royal Janes, they are beautifully screen printed and backed in fabric that will delight the royal in your life. They will be up in the shop by Monday and be sure to check the blog on Monday when our new product will be shown and some exciting news for our readers,
Have a great weekend and Happy 4th of July to our American readers.

very tricky.

i never realised how hard
screen printing can be!!!
and that's with someone else making the screen.
after pre-washing and ironing some new 'natural' homespun.
i went about getting the
surface ready(translation-ironing board,towel etc)
very glamorous (not)
then set to work, what no one seems to say is
just how sensitive these screens are.
after only doing around 6 prints i noticed
there was becoming a build up of paint
that was looking like it was drying on me.
so then i had to wash the screen out.
not once, not twice, but heaps!!!!!!
any drips residue etc can stuff the screen and effect all future results.
but apart from all that i love the results.
i wouldn't say that there are as perfect
as something that has been say printed
on a computer but they are pretty special.
Little dolls will be made from these very soon,
and be on etsy at a very reasonable price
so everyone can enjoy.
when our other project comes out
look out for a possible special 'birthday' giveaway..

screenprint !!!!

Its finally here
one of our long awaited projects
is finished.
how cute!
she measures around 23cm long
and i have screened her onto
50/50 linen cottonthe back is "wee play" by American Jane fabric.
The tie handle on top is for easy carrying
or hanging up in a pretty spot
We have so many ideas on what to do with our
new screen that we don't know quiet where to start.
I know who will be sporting her on
a t-shirt real soon thou.
these little cuties and more will be appearing in the shop
in the next week or so, keep a eye out.

busy ?

tryed to keep myself busy this weekend
one of my long awaited projects arrived on Friday
and i was so excited i was beside myself
only to find out it had be done wrong....
so now i have to mail it back and wait another week to get
it back.
i could drive down and wait around except
that it is a 4 hour round trip
and with petrol the way it is
I'm certainly not going to do that.
i don't care how much i want it done.
so alas we will all have to sit back and relax
it will be out real soon....cross fingers.

grayson

'Grayson' is now in the shop and will be followed
very soon with a friend
our projects in the pipeline have had to take a back seat
this week as there has been quiet a few 'family' emergencies
come up that have been a bit more important
but hopefully very soon
there will be up and running for all to see
and enjoy...

Turtle Turtle's Everywhere

Well can you believe it, these picture are of a CAKE yes a CAKE that our sister Vanessa made.
Can you believe that it's a cake, well yes it is.
My favourite thoughts on turtles is from Ralph Waldo Emerson: "The only thoughts of a turtle are turtle".

so much to do

We have had so many project in the making at the moment
i have had little time to sit and put out a post.
plus i would just love to say what they are but i have to wait until
they are totally finished.
hopefully i can let you all know of one by Monday
and the other one by the end of that week.
so I'm left to blog about the home front and that has been a bit exciting...
a new addition to the house hold
This is MILLIE
she is a jack russell x mini fox terrier
and she is so cute.
we had a jack russell called 'tib' for 17 years
and we have all missed her dearly.
its been 2 years since she has left us, and even though
little millie will never replace her it has been very
nice to have the company of a little friend
to cuddle and chat to.
but i will say i very much had forgotten about that 'puppy stage'

KEEP CALM-when your driving in you cute little car

that you convinced your husband you had to have
and promised him that of course you would take it on holidays
not just park it out the back cause it looks so PRETTY.

drawing - sketch

i had a lovely e-mail from a reader
the other day asking
"could i please post more drawings"
well its like this...
i don't tend to do "proper drawings"
i tend to doodle and spend most of my time making the "sisters" etc
plus i only have a very basic scanner that i really
don't know how to use properly.
but i did sit down and do a "proper sketch"
tonight and i hope you think she is cute.
for some reason i find it so much easier drawing on fabric
than paper especially the eyes, so i have keep this one every simple.
this sketch will be transformed into a "sister"very soon
i'm just waiting until my supplies turn up tomorrow..
i've been supply-less all weekend and nearly going mad.
well it doesn't take much.

Take a Trip on the Caravan of Love

Here are the Caravans with the Sisters, they make you want to jump in the car and head off on holidays.
Michelle has an unsurpassed talent that is no longer just for us to see.
The caravans will be in the shop soon for everyone to enjoy, and just when you thought that was it, no no, there is a form of transport to tug that little caravan on it's way.
Stay tuned to our blog.

Caravan of Love

I love the song Caravan of Love by the McMartins and so do Michelle as it has inspired her to have our own Caravan of Love.
Here's the first verse:

Are you ready for the time of your life
It's time to stand up and fight
(It's alright) It's alright (It's alright, it's alright)
Hand in hand we'll take a caravan
To the Motherland.

The Adams Family

The Adams family was such a part of our lives growing up like the Waltons and the Flinstones. Here at The Royal Sisters we have been having a bit of a Adams family moment and have created our version of Morticia and Wednesday.

We love the fact that Gomez was totally besotted with Morticia and that there is a part of Pugsly and Wednesday in all of us. Where would we be without these memories.

Above is our version of Wednesday.

goth?

well this is as close as i could get
love the legs they remind me of funky stockings
the hair thing has been a challenge to say the least
but i think it is turning out pretty amazing
her eyes are a lot darker around the edge than the photo shows
i think the flash on the camera seems to wipe them out a bit
hope you all enjoy our new byron sister...
don't forget to check her out on etsy.

mia

Mia is now in the etsy shop
her dress is the most amazing fabric
its a "wee play" by american jane
they have such a fantastic array of funky fabrics
on the market at the moment i don't know where
to start.
am in the process of creating a slighty goth doll
but as you can image by the time
i finish her she could end up
looking as sweet as sugar and spice.

On the home front i have had a very busy night
at work and stink of oil "i run a kitchen"
5 nights a week and weekend lunches.
can't tell you how much i love mondays.

carouselle

I came across this little number
as i cruised down the isle of Big W
yes i know its hard to believe but there it was
its tag says "carouselle style makes the world go, round.
and at the bargain price of $29.92
its perfect to wear over jeans as its not to long
and doesn't have that smock look that some tops can give off.
On another note its around 1 degrees over night here and
i sometimes find it hard to even type
because my hands are so cold
i'm hopeing to have some more "sisters" done soon
but its impossible to keep warm long enough
to sit out at the work table come nightfall {no heater out there}.
am hopeing everyone else is "as snug as a bug in a rug"

Sally, Sally sleeps a-lot

Sally, Sally sleeps a-lot,
when she rests she dreams a-lot.
ponies and princes and palaces too,
remembering poems and singing in tune.
dresses and dragons and daisy-chains lay,
dancing around on a warm summers day.
give her a cuddle, give her a kiss,
its time to wake up but she wants to resist.
Sally, Sally sleeps a-lot,
when she rests she dreams a-lot.

Michelle wrote this dity to go with apptly named Sally Sleeper Sister. Miss M. named her and she is in the shop from this morning.

Eshe, an Egyptian Royal Sister

We welcome Eshe to The Royal Sisters. Eshe means life and I think that she is certainly worthy of the name. The olive green of her accessories and her darker complexion make her a real LIFE addition to our sisters. Take a look at our shop at all of our sisters, I know that you will be amazed.

Thursday, May 1, 2008

Hasina, an Egyptian Royal Sister

Here is Hasina. She has beautiful skin, amazing eyes and a fabulous dress. What's not to like.
When I think of Egypt I think of being on Lord Carnovan's dig and wearing linen outfits and having ice teas brought to me. Howard Carter had a real drive to keep up the push to find the young King Tut. I think that passion is something to be really admired. One day I will visit the Valley of the king's if only in books and in my dreams.

New Sister

Yes Michelle has been at it again, she never stops.
Here she has created a new style of sister that has a full flat circle bottom to sit on. She is not quite ready for the shop but I could not resist giving you a sneek peek. Her legs will be fuller when finished and she is currently nameless so any suggestions would be appreciated.
I think that you will agree that her dress material is simply stunning, her hat is funky to say the least and the rosette definitely makes her BEST IN SHOW. Take a look around the shop, you will not be disappointed.

IT"S TIME

Well it's time.
It's the time of the year when the porridge is coming out of the pantry. Yeh. I love porridge and brown sugar and milk and cold mornings and quiet children and now WAKEUP. Reality is that porridge is for after I put the children on the bus to school when I have time to savor it, when I imagine that I am in a cottage in the Blue Mountains and my man is out gathering wood and I have darning to do. Again, back to reality.
Reality is four children, a husband who works away alot and not a wood fire insight. But there is alway's Uncle Toby's porridge.

Black Apple Order

We have just ordered two prints from the Black Apple on Etsy. Michelle adores Fox Girl and I covet the Button Collector. If we had our way and an unlimited budget we would have many more, but you need to start somewhere. I am really looking forward to receiving the prints and finding a place for mine. Etsy has really opened the handmade world to make access to craft items so much easier. I know that the sisters are going to find homes all over the world. Have a great weekend where ever you are.
