mia

Mia is now in the etsy shop
her dress is the most amazing fabric
its a "wee play" by american jane
they have such a fantastic array of funky fabrics
on the market at the moment i don't know where
to start.
am in the process of creating a slighty goth doll
but as you can image by the time
i finish her she could end up
looking as sweet as sugar and spice.

On the home front i have had a very busy night
at work and stink of oil "i run a kitchen"
5 nights a week and weekend lunches.
can't tell you how much i love mondays.

carouselle

I came across this little number
as i cruised down the isle of Big W
yes i know its hard to believe but there it was
its tag says "carouselle style makes the world go, round.
and at the bargain price of $29.92
its perfect to wear over jeans as its not to long
and doesn't have that smock look that some tops can give off.
On another note its around 1 degrees over night here and
i sometimes find it hard to even type
because my hands are so cold
i'm hopeing to have some more "sisters" done soon
but its impossible to keep warm long enough
to sit out at the work table come nightfall {no heater out there}.
am hopeing everyone else is "as snug as a bug in a rug"

Sally, Sally sleeps a-lot

Sally, Sally sleeps a-lot,
when she rests she dreams a-lot.
ponies and princes and palaces too,
remembering poems and singing in tune.
dresses and dragons and daisy-chains lay,
dancing around on a warm summers day.
give her a cuddle, give her a kiss,
its time to wake up but she wants to resist.
Sally, Sally sleeps a-lot,
when she rests she dreams a-lot.

Michelle wrote this dity to go with apptly named Sally Sleeper Sister. Miss M. named her and she is in the shop from this morning.

Eshe, an Egyptian Royal Sister

We welcome Eshe to The Royal Sisters. Eshe means life and I think that she is certainly worthy of the name. The olive green of her accessories and her darker complexion make her a real LIFE addition to our sisters. Take a look at our shop at all of our sisters, I know that you will be amazed.

Hasina, an Egyptian Royal Sister

Here is Hasina. She has beautiful skin, amazing eyes and a fabulous dress. What's not to like.
When I think of Egypt I think of being on Lord Carnovan's dig and wearing linen outfits and having ice teas brought to me. Howard Carter had a real drive to keep up the push to find the young King Tut. I think that passion is something to be really admired. One day I will visit the Valley of the king's if only in books and in my dreams.

New Sister

Yes Michelle has been at it again, she never stops.
Here she has created a new style of sister that has a full flat circle bottom to sit on. She is not quite ready for the shop but I could not resist giving you a sneek peek. Her legs will be fuller when finished and she is currently nameless so any suggestions would be appreciated.
I think that you will agree that her dress material is simply stunning, her hat is funky to say the least and the rosette definitely makes her BEST IN SHOW. Take a look around the shop, you will not be disappointed.

IT"S TIME

Well it's time.
It's the time of the year when the porridge is coming out of the pantry. Yeh. I love porridge and brown sugar and milk and cold mornings and quiet children and now WAKEUP. Reality is that porridge is for after I put the children on the bus to school when I have time to savor it, when I imagine that I am in a cottage in the Blue Mountains and my man is out gathering wood and I have darning to do. Again, back to reality.
Reality is four children, a husband who works away alot and not a wood fire insight. But there is alway's Uncle Toby's porridge.

Black Apple Order

We have just ordered two prints from the Black Apple on Etsy. Michelle adores Fox Girl and I covet the Button Collector. If we had our way and an unlimited budget we would have many more, but you need to start somewhere. I am really looking forward to receiving the prints and finding a place for mine. Etsy has really opened the handmade world to make access to craft items so much easier. I know that the sisters are going to find homes all over the world. Have a great weekend where ever you are.

Michelle's Visit

We are not accustomed to putting our photo's up but you have to start somewhere. Michelle came to the city for a visit, some take away indian food, shopping and lots of crafting, so we thought we should put up a photo. Michelle is on the left and I (Belinda) is on the right. Know you can put a face to us. Have a great Wednesday (in Australia).

Pandora and Lucie

Here are two of our beautiful sleepers. I thought that I would share the sisters with you to share how they have different complexions. Pandora and her sister Aurelia have a darker complexion (much darker than the photo shows) than our other sleepers such as Lucie in the background. I am sure that you will agree that they are beautiful sisters. Here's to getting more sleep like the sisters.

wake up early

Yes I have a Hello Kitty alarm clock
and I'm proad of it...
Very Gilmore girls if i say so myself
I will be travelling with family in tow
down to the big smoke for some R & R
not that my town isn't big
i think our towns population is almost reaching 1,000
amazing!
yes i can hear the little giggles as i type
but there are many benifits of living in such a town
like small schools, tree lined streets
and cute little cafes.
sorry i can't deny it any more i do miss the shops thou
so off i go to rest, relax and shop and maybe
if time permits more shopping...
now i just have to remember to wake up early

Aurelia, our new Sleeping Royal Sister

Meet our newest Sleeping Royal Sister.
She had been made with a darker complexion and stunning outfit and I know that you will agree that she is stunning.
Here name Aurelia was most popular in the 17th century and means golden.
Please take a look at the Etsy shop for all of our sisters.

MY ROSES

I thought that I would share my roses with you. I planted them about 5 years ago and have a love hate relationship with them. Sometimes they are magnificent and at other times rather odd looking. I think that I am learning how to prune and fertilise them. It is rather a learning curve.
A dear friend told me that roses love banana skin, I have battled to leave bananas around, at least the blue tongue lizards would be happy. I hope that your gardens are blooming if even in a little way.

How Now Brown Cow

Welcome Martini to the Royal Sisters.
She has got me thinking about BROWN after looking at her deep brown eyes.
It is such an under rated colour. Brown is beautiful.
Brown eyes, Brown hair, brown skin, brown lipstick, brown boots, brown jumpers, brown coats,
brown trees, brown leaves, brown cows, brown stones, brown wood,
this could go on forever.
Let's celebrate the Brown in life!

SPECIAL ORDER FOR A SPECIAL PERSON

Special is a word that can be used far too frequently these days.
I have reserved this for a special order for a very special person.
This special person and her family has touched my heart and I hope that they are touched by this sister.
I think that you will agree that she is indeed worth this praise.
From her golden hair to her red mary-janes she is the epitome of being a royal sisters.

SCOTLAND THE BRAVE.

I thought that I would share my newest kilt. I bought this lovely piece of ebay and it is the most beautiful fit and quality. The brand is Fletcher Jones and they make cloths that stand the test of time. I don't know what is fashionable but I love kilts in winter with black stockings and knitwear. It is quite traditional but I like it. I am hoping to add to my collection this year. Keep your fingers crossed for all great clothes buys this winter.

PAPILLON

Meet Papillon our newest French Royal Sister.
I think that you will agree that she is simply stunning.
She has been made using a beautiful material that is called peas and carrots, how cute is that.
Every time a new sister is made I fall in love all over again.
I really can not decide who is my favourite.
I love naming the sisters and Papillon is no different.
Papillon means butterfly in France and I think that it suits her very well.
ENJOY!

alaskan drawing

I'm still trying my hand at a bit
of scanning and colouring
on the computer i really don't think
i have a great programme
to do this in
but here's a pic of how it turned out anyway...

BABY BRIGETTE

Baby Brigette joins the family.
We are pleased to announce the arrival of Baby Brigette to the Royal Sisters. She is the baby sister of our most popular Royal Sister Brigette. What not to like? From the vintage dress to the mary janes Baby Brigette is the epitome of style that is synonymous with theroyalsisters.

Hat or not to Hat

Well here is my predicament.
Which hat?
Do you have added paraphenalia?
Do you co ordinate hat and scarf?
I love the hat's with extras but then feel like I am the too LOOK AT ME.
What is the age for hats to be plain or out there?
I think that I am always going to be a hat person so with winter coming,
HERE I COME!

new fringe

some girls sporting the new fringe
i just love love love the colours of these two
that i had to take a pic for all to see
that gets on to the subject: TO FRINGE OR NOT TO FRINGE?
you know when you get to that stage that you
need to do something with your hair
but it has eventually got to all one length
and for some bizarre reason
you feel that you need to chop it off again
think i may have to visit my lovely hairdresser "Louise"
I'm sure she will convince me otherwise...

Three Sisters

This is a poem that Michelle found. I love it. take time to read it.

We are three sisters
Three sisters are we
I love each of you,
And I know you love me

We’re not always together,
Life sometimes keeps us apart.
But we're never separated
We’re in each other's heart.

Now I know we've had our troubles,
But we always get thru.
The real message is you love me,
And I also love you.

We have had lots of good times
That we'll never forget
Sometimes we worry
And sometimes we fret

But if God ever gave me
Something special you see,
It might have been the blessing of,
Three sisters are we.
The Lord above has gave me lots
Of happiness and glee
But the most special thing he did was
Make us sisters, all three.

inspiration

OUR GRANDMOTHER
Lots of friends ask
"how do you make all of these great things"
the first answers is always "My grandmother taught me"
When we were very young our grandmother taught us how to sew, knit and crochet.
A gift that has given us joy and even saved our sanity many times over.

When I was about 12 years old my grandmother sat me down at the treadle sewing machine
and we made my first rag doll off her pattern{the same i use today}
She told me how she made the same doll for my mother when she was young out of blue material and she was called "BLUE BELLE"
Mine was made out of yellow material and i called her "YELLOW BELLE"
You don't tend to be very original at that age...

Over a very long time{i shudder! 30 years} the pattern has evolved
Of course due to age and style and the many times it has been cut around
and re drawn when the paper wore thin.
The face was drawn on with "hobby tech" years ago but with the start of folk art classes
about 10 years ago and the help of jo sonya paints and mediums
it has made a huge improvement.
So as with most of our art we keep the amount we do to a minimum
mainly to keep us encouraged and motivated and make them a bit more special.
We like to make things because we want to not because we have to.

Our grandmother taught us so much more its hard to put it in one post
so i am sure there will be many more post on this.
People can inspire you everyday of the week
but when you put love and inspiration together it makes magic....
