SCOTLAND THE BRAVE.

I thought that I would share my newest kilt. I bought this lovely piece of ebay and it is the most beautiful fit and quality. The brand is Fletcher Jones and they make cloths that stand the test of time. I don't know what is fashionable but I love kilts in winter with black stockings and knitwear.It is quite traditional but I like it. I am hoping to add to my collection this year. Keep your fingers crossed for all great clothes buys this winter.

PAPILLON

Meet Papillon our newest French Royal Sister.
I think that you will agree that she is simply stunning.
She has been made using a beautiful material that is called peas and carrots, how cute is that.
Every time a new sister is made I fall in love all over again.
I really can not decide who is my favourite.
I love naming the sisters and Papillon is no different.
Papillon means butterfly in France and I think that it suits her very well.

Baby Brigette joins the family.

Hat or not to Hat

Well here is my predicament.
Which hat?
Do you have added paraphenalia?
Do you co ordinate hat and scarf?
I love the hat's with extras but then feel like I am the too LOOK AT ME.
What is the age for hats to be plain or out there?
I think that I am always going to be a hat person so with winter coming,
HERE I COME!

you know when you get to that stage that you
need to do something with your hair
but it has eventually got to all one length
and for some bizarre reason
you feel that you need to chop it off again
think i may have to visit my lovely hairdresser "Louise"
I'm sure she will convince me otherwise...

Three Sisters

This is a poem that Michelle found. I love it. take time to read it.

We are three sisters
Three sisters are we
I love each of you,
And I know you love me

We’re not always together,
Life sometimes keeps us apart.
But we're never separated
We’re in each other's heart.

Now I know we've had our troubles,
But we always get thru.
The real message is you love me,
And I also love you.

We have had lots of good times
That we'll never forget
Sometimes we worry
And sometimes we fret

But if God ever gave me
Something special you see,
It might have been the blessing of,
Three sisters are we.
The Lord above has gave me lots
Of happiness and glee
But the most special thing he did was
Make us sisters, all three.

inspiration

OUR GRANDMOTHER

Lots of friends ask
"how do you make all of these great things"
the first answers is always "My grandmother taught me"
When we were very young our grandmother taught us how to sew, knit and crochet.
A gift that has given us joy and even saved our sanity many times over.

When I was about 12 years old my grandmother sat me down at the treadle sewing machine
and we made my first rag doll off her pattern{the same i use today}
She told me how she made the same doll for my mother when she was young out of blue material and she was called "BLUE BELLE"
Mine was made out of yellow material and i called her "YELLOW BELLE"
You don't tend to be very original at that age...

Over a very long time{i shudder! 30 years} the pattern has evolved
Of course due to age and style and the many times it has been cut around
and re drawn when the paper wore thin.
The face was drawn on with "hobby tech" years ago but with the start of folk art classes
about 10 years ago and the help of jo sonya paints and mediums
it has made a huge improvement.
So as with most of our art we keep the amount we do to a minimum
mainly to keep us encouraged and motivated and make them a bit more special.
We like to make things because we want to not because we have to.

Our grandmother taught us so much more its hard to put it in one post
so i am sure there will be many more post on this.
People can inspire you everyday of the week
but when you put love and inspiration together it makes magic....

that will look great with it
and not forgetting my "mary janes".
i just need somewhere to go......

so I made a mini one that I put on a key chain.

My Favourite Poem

This was my favourite poem as a child and it has staid my favourite all my life.
Michelle and I would learn all of the A.A Milne poems of by heart.
It is amazing how you can still recite these so easily without realising it.

Ode to Sleep

Sleep, sleep, sleep is good.
On a bed, or a floor of wood.

I like to sleep any time of day,
All I need is a place to lay.

I'll sleep in grass, I'll sleep through class,
I'll sleep on the train, I'll sleep through the rain.

When I'm sleeping, life is is fine
on odd dreams my mind does dine.

Sleep is refreshing and lots of fun!

Easter has many meanings to many people but best of all it is your being close to your dearest.
I believe that Easter means slowing down, spending time with family and eating lot's of chocolate.

New Find

Isn't it great to find a piece that fits so right into a place that you have been waiting for the right one. I put new handles on and have one of my bird cages on top but I need to add that extra piece to finish th top. The best belongings are one's that have lived.
Let's keep the past part of our present.

place a sheet of puff pastry on a baking tray
that has been sprayed with olive oil
fold in sides about a cm
spread some basil pesto on inside
arrange already roasted vegetables or left overs
i put some baby truss tomatoes on mine
put you favorite cheese like brie or feta etc
and put in hot oven for about 20 minutes until top is brown
yum!

Belinda's SUNDAY Thoughts

I was sitting here reading the Sunday papers and checking on Etsy and thinking of ways to spend your Sunday. Here we will be spending Sunday cleaning up, preparing for the week ahead and cooking. I made a Curried Prawn meal last night, Michelle's recipe and it was a huge hit. I will publish the recipe below.

How do other people spend their Sunday's?

Michelle's Curried Prawns:

Cook prawns in fry pan, add chopped onion, then add chopped vegetables ie. carrots, broccoli, steam off, then add green or red curry paste, coconut milk, fresh coriander and lime juice.
Serve with rice cooked in coconut milk and tumeric.
The amounts used depend on how many you are cooking for.
